Child Is Having Painful Itching. Gets Angry And Cries. Face Is Puffy And Swollen Genitals. Suggest?

Hi , I have a 6 yr.old boy who's been having some painful itching for 2 days. Today it seems its worse, he gets really angry and cries because he says its unbearable. He's face is getting a little puffy around eyes and he's genitals a little swollen and red. The itching comes around for about 1 long minute and then goes away.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
This is a type of urticaria or angioedema , however both are related ( simulates ) to each other .
Urticarial eruptions are distinctly pruritic , involve any area of the body from scalp to the soles of the feet ( as in your son case swelling and itching from face to genitals i.e.red swollen). .
These eruptions appear in crops of 24 to 72 hours duration, with old lesions fading as new one appear.

While in angioedema main lesions are perorbital & in the lips.
Hence this disease ( urticaria ) self limiting ,but in your case severe itching is there so please consult a dermatologist and get his opinion and treatment after relevant test.
Insect bite, pollen, mold, allergens ,sudden rise & fall of temperature are predisposing factors.Worm infestation also play an important role.
Good luck for little one.
