Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
This is a type of
urticaria or
angioedema , however both are related ( simulates ) to each other .
Urticarial eruptions are distinctly pruritic , involve any area of the body from
scalp to the soles of the feet ( as in your son case swelling and itching from face to genitals i.e.red swollen). .
These eruptions appear in crops of 24 to 72 hours duration, with old lesions fading as new one appear.
While in angioedema main lesions are perorbital & in the lips.
Hence this disease ( urticaria ) self limiting ,but in your case
severe itching is there so please
consult a dermatologist and get his opinion and treatment after relevant test.
Insect bite, pollen, mold, allergens ,sudden rise & fall of temperature are predisposing factors.Worm infestation also play an important role.
Good luck for little one.
Dr. HET
