Child Not Drinking Formula Milk Or Breastmilk. Worried
Hello Doctor, I am a mother of a baby girl of 12 weeks. Recently i rejoined my office and i started my baby giving formula milk. She is taking hardly 8-9 oz milk in period of 9 hr. In night generally she used to wake up 3 times and i used to breastfed but she continue breastfed not more than 10 min. I am bit worried wether my baby is getting enoguh nutritent and food or not?? Please suggest me
In general the rule of thumb is 150 to 200ml of milk per kg of weight per day. So if your daughter is 10 pounds- she will need 1500 ml to 2000ml per day , in 8 feeds this will be 6 to 8 ounces.
This is just a general guide, if a baby is gaining enough weight then it is okay.
If you are concerned, then you should consider taking her to your doctor for an assessment to determine if there is a reason for her reduced appetite.
