Hi there,
Thank you for choosing healthcaremagic.
As you mentioned your daughter has been suffereing from cough and cold for past 7 days and now has started suffering from a
low grade fever with persistent cough.
The medications mentioned above are safe to use during this time.
Lecope and
asthalin may provide symptomatic relief with the cold and cough. Asthalin especially helps if your child has had
reactive airway disease in the past.
While calpol 250 is
paracetamol used for fever- can be used every 4-6 hrs if your child has a fever. (Be cautious in using other medicines that are in combination that have paracetamol in them- none of the other medicines you mentioned have it).
Cefoprox is an antibiotic to treat the bacterial infection that maybe the source of her symptoms.
Your doctor recommended CBC and CRP to be done since now your child has started to develop fever and the cough is still persistent. This is to rule out any severe infection like
pneumonia that maybe the cause of the new fever especially if the fever is high.
She may need a chest x ray if her cough is getting worse or her fever is high or she develops breathing difficulty or
chest pain.
I would suggest you can continue with the above treatment as advised by your physician and add some
home remedies (like giving lukewarm honey at night and using a humidifier or giving steam) as well to help with the symptoms.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
Regards,
Dr. Sumeet.
