Child Suffering From Continuous Diarrhea. Having Fruits, Wheat, Bread, Stopped Dairy. Is She Fructose Intolerant?
My child has become intolerant out of the blue or may have been before it didn't notice it so much with her not being a very good water! We thought she could be lactose intolerant but now not so sure as it has been 2 months that we have stopped the dairy but she continues to have diaorreah so after researching further we think she may be fructose intolerant as when her day consists of fruit , wheat , bread etc she still has diaorreah ? Please helps he is almost 3 yrs old and it's been going on since end I July ! Much appreciated
Your child has chronic diarrhea which is persisting even after stopping dairy products. It is not advisable to stop dairy products without confirming the diagnosis of lactose inolerance. Does she have a bad perianal rash with excoriation? It is a pointer to lactose intolerance. Withdrawl of dairy products leads to remarkable improvement in these cases which has not happened with your child. I advice you to get her investigated for the cause. Doing a stool ph and stool reducing substances while she is on dairy products will give a clue regarding lactose intolerance. By your description it seems she is having diarrhea after consuming food items which are very common in our diet. In general she could have malabsorption due to celiac disease (gluten sensitivity), giardiasis or some other infections. There are many causes for chronic diarrhea and to establish a diagnosis detailed history, examination and investigations are required. After a diagnosis is confirmed then certain food items can be eliminated from her diet. But gradually omitting many food items based on presumption will do the child much more harm, causing nutritional deficiences.
Hope that helps. Wishing you good luck.
