Child Suffering From Throat Infection. Giving Ambrolite D. Should I Continue With This Medicine?
Hi my daughter is 22 months old. and had throat infection and cough last week. she was antibiotics ..now her antibiotics dosage is over since last night. and her coughing stil exists. I gave her Ambrolite D 3 ml twice a day for two days. but i still feel she a cough and is sneezing . Also her body temperature feels warm like 98.6 to 98.9 thru out. is it normal . should i continue ambrolite D or take her to Doc. she weighs 11kg.
Her temperature is quite okay.
Since she is sneezing too, antihistamine preparations like PIRITON syrup will help.
It has chlorpheneramine maleate (CPM) in it. Strength of CPM is 2mg/ 5ml.
Check the ingredients and strength of the syrup.
You may give her 2.5 ml twice a day for 3 days.
This medicine can cause drowsiness in your kid.
Check if her activity is normal and food/fluid intake is okay.
Usually cough especially after viral infections can take 3 to 8 weeks for complete cure.
But if you find the cough really distressing/ she is dull/ not taking anything orally- do not hesitate to get your doctor`s help.
Hope my answer helps you.
Wish your daughter good health.
