Child Taking Laxatives Long Term. Safe Treatment For Constipation?
My step-son is 2 1/2. His mom has had him on a laxitive for over a year now because it is easier than changing his diet. He does not drink a lot of fluids and eats a lot of processed foods. Is it safe for her to continue this course of treatment for constipation? Her pediatrician says its fine for him to be on miralax long term and nothing will happen?

Child Taking Laxatives Long Term. Safe Treatment For Constipation?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Laxatives to be used when and where required and prolonged use is not indicated. Better to modify his diet habits. Try to give more dietary fiber rich foods on daily basis. Miralax usually not used more than continuous 7 days even though it is safe. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
