Child Urinating Frequently. Mother Is Diabetic. Related?

My granddaughter is urinating frequently. She goes through about 20 diapers a day and is soaked in the morning after sleeping 12 hours through the night. Is this normal? Her mom's brother is a Type 1 diabetic. Could that be possible? She hasn't lost any weight and although she can be very irritable, she hasn't shown any signs of being weak or lethargic.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello:
Twenty diapers a day does certainly seems like a lot. Although some children have a small bladder capacity and urinate many times, but a small amount.
With that family history, however, I think it is appropriate to take her to her pediatrician for some blood work and urine analysis. It's the only way to be sure.
