Child With Pain In The Neck And Shoulders. Chances Of Scoliosis? Is It Possible?
My ten year old daughter complains of aches and pains in her neck and shoulders, and she has shoulder knots . She has complained of these for some time. Today, she had a neck and back massage at a spa, which she was hoping would help, but she feels it is worse. She s not a stressed out kid. The internet has me wondering about scoliosis . What would be the cause of such muscle knots in a 10 year old?

Your child ache and pain in neck and shoulder looking like musculoskeletal pain and mostly this t ype of aches are due to abnormal postures while sitting or sleeping.
Abnormal posture for prolonged period while reading,video gaming and watching television, and net browsing will lead to muscle sprain and cause this type of pain.
Scoliosis is a structural problem due to some congenital or acquired defects of vertebra and not related to your child problem.

Knots or swelling in shoulder region may be due to cellulitis, lymphadenitis or bony swelling.
A proper clinical examination will help in making a diagnosis.
These knots may just be an incidental finding of previous swelling, which has been detected now due to shoulder or neck pain.
Scoliosis is an abnormal sidewise( lateral) curvature of vertebral column.
Why are you getting worried for scoliosis as neck pain does not always associated with scoliosis.
I would suggest you to consult a physician for clinical examination, important investigations and then management accordingly.
