Choking Sensation In Throat, Might Be Anxiety Related. Drinking Water Helps. Permanent Cure?
Good morning: I am a 68 year old woman who has intermittent chocking sensations in my throat . It feels as if someone has his hands around my throat. It comes on very suddenly but disappears once I drink water. Most websites tell me it is anxiety related (no mental history of this and water clears the issue immediately). Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello
I have gone through your query regarding recurrent chocking sensation in your throat which gets re leaved by drinking few sips of water.
Considering your symptoms I can't ignore anxiety factor but I would suggest to think for G.E.R.D. (gastro-esophageal- reflux-disorder )
To differentiate above two you are advice to consult an E.N.T. specialist who will do a thorough clinical examination and possibly direct laryngoscopy and upper G.I.endoscopy to reach the final diagnosis and plan for treatment.
I hope you are now satisfy about your query.
With Regards
