Hello dear...
The symptoms mentioned in your post suggests that the coughing bouts in your child can be attributed to constant irritation of the
respiratory tract.
Aggravation of symptoms on entering an air conditioned room can be explained by the fact that the air of an air conditioner causes dryness of the respiratory tract, thus causing further irritation & coughing.
Symptoms are also appreciated more after sleep due to the above mentioned reason.
Management consists of:
1. Maintaining of adequate hydration & proper nutrition.
2. Antihistamine preparations can be used to provide symptomatic relief.
3. Anti tussive preparation to provide relief from coughing fits.
4. Avoid exposure from
cold, dust and other allergens.
Butalin is a
bronchodilator agent, usually given in cases of obstructive airway diseases associated with
wheezing, etc. like
asthma & seasonal allergies.
It acts by causing broncho-dilation (dilating the smaller airway passages, relieving the obstruction & increasing airflow to lungs)
But it will not provide relief from cough.
So, it will be better to
consult a Pediatrician & get a proper physical examination done.
There is no need to worry...your son will be perfectly fine.
Meanwhile...he should avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
