Cold, Blocked Nose, Big Lump Of Mucus After Sneezing, Runny Right Eye. Is This The Cause Of Concern?
Hello, I have a bad cold and very blocked nose on the right side and runny right eye. When I sneezed earlier a big lump of mucus came from the back of my nose into my throat which I spit into a tissue. It was like a big lump of bloody jelly ( sorry, that sounds disgusting ) but it did not appear to be green/infected. Is this a sign of something sinister? Thank you
Any infection would cause inflammation of the involved area. This inflammation can cause bleeding to occur because the surfaces are 'irritated' by the infective process.
It is not indicative of anything sinister and will likely resolve with the infection.
Only if it persists after the acute infection would any assessment be necessary.
I hope this helps
