Cold, Cough, Lump In Throat Near Lymph Nodes, Swelling And Tenderness. Smoker. Could It Be Tonsillitis?
hi,im 26 yrs old,,light smoker,,last month i had a cold with a slight cough,,i had noticed a small lump on my right side of my throat,where my lymph node is, is was tender for awhile,,once my cold and cough went away,,i noticed i still had a slight lump,figured it was due to the coughin,,but a month and a half later i still have the lump but its more swollen and tender now,it hurts when i swallow,i have fever that comes and goes, could it be tonsillitis??

It appears that you might be having upper respiratory tract infection or acute tonsillits givng rise to enlarge painful lymph node.
Go for one antibiotic medicine course after consulting your doctor.
Do salt water gargles.
Avoid junk food.
Ok and take care.

swelling in lateral side of the neck that is tender most probably alymph node enlargement.
lymph node enlargement may because of many reason from cold,to tonsilitis.
your saying it is persisting over months go for fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) simple test will rule out your problem.
for tonsilitis get throat examined by physcian.
