Cold, Fever, Pain Around Temple, Pain Around Right Side Of Head. Taking Medication. Suggestions?

I am a 31 year old female, relatively healthy all of my life. No history of high bp or any problems. I have had a cold recently where i had fever, cough and alot of congestion. My cold Didnt seem to get any better, and i started having pain/ pressure arould my left temple and above my ear on sunday. Rent to my dr yesterday and was diagnosed with sinusitis since im also having some facial pressure. now having the same feeling above my right side of my head in the same spot. Pain/pressure doesnt really go away fully. Im a nurse, so im naturally terrified of something more serious like a brain tumor or something. Please give me some advice. I began omnicef along with a decongestant and nasal spray yesterday.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
From your symptoms it looks like you have sinusitis and not brain tumour. Please dont worry unnecessarily
Sinuses are contiguous with the nose and so infection from the nose spreads easily to the sinuses.
Sinusitis is a very common disease. Sinusitis produces nose block, discharge from nose, headache, facial pain and post nasal drip.
You will require an appropriate antibiotic (preferably one from the penicillin group), anti inflammatory and decongestant nose drops followed by steam inhalation.
Continue the treatment that your doctor suggested and follow some general measures like.
1) Avoid air conditioning and fan.
2) Drink lots of fluids.
3) Avoid cold foods.
Get well soon,
Dr Rajkishori.
