Hi thanks for your question.
There are many reasons for constipation. Most common are;
Diet high in protein and low in fiber,
Anal fissure and piles.
Hypothyroidism and
Irritable bowel syndrome.
Take plenty of fruits and fresh vegetables along with plenty of fluids in the form of plain water or juice.Consult a physician who may examine you and may get you investigated for the cause of constipation and may treat you depending upon the cause. You may need local examination of you ano rectal region, supplemented with ultra sound abdomen and TSH that is thyroid stimulating hormone to rule out hypothyroidism as a cause of your symptoms. You can take tab dulcolex 5mg bed time, it is not going to harm you unless you have organic obstruction,( something blocking the lumen of gut) responsible for constipation.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi,

Constipation is a very common problem and needs proper guidance.
If you suffer from constipation for a long time then probably your eating habits and lifestyle modification with laxatives can help you out.

Please include lot of roughage in your diet and avoid taking too much of baked flour products.
Eat plenty of salads, legumes and fruits.
A good intake of water and fluids will help in digestion.
You could take 2 dulcolax tablets at night before going to bed.
Next day early morning please drink a glass of lukewarm water and then clear your bowels.

Hope this helps.
