Constipation, Difficulty In Bowel Movement

why does my 2and a half year old always seem to struggle when she needs to do poo, and when she does it is just little marks in her nappie, and when she does go which is about every 3-4 days its just 1 big poo, it has been happening for nearlly 3 weeks now, i have put more fibre in her diet , but it hasnt seemed to help, im lost i dont know whats wrong, it doesent seem normal

Yes definitely the child has constipation. The most common reason is dietary issues..

Please follow the following instructions and see if it helps..

Increase fluid intake more of water.
Food that helps move the bowels are as follows.. try adding or increasing the following food intake..
Banana, Papaya, tomato, more fiber as you have mentioned .

Foods to be avoided:

prepared proteinous food (cooked- / baked- / fried- / steamed- / canned-, or
heated in any other way- -fish, -meat, -beans, -grains and soy-products)
- dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt, quark etc. from whatever animal)
- wheat products (bread, pasta, cookies, pastries etc.)
- somehow, supplementary iron can also cause constipation.
- supplementary calcium

Drugs: You can start with mild laxative initially with Milk of Megnesia 5 ml twice daily for ten days then reduce to 5 ml once night for a week and check if he is better..
