Constipation During Pregnancy. Can I Take Cremaffin Tonic? Any Effect On Fetus?
Hi, Doctor confirmed me that I am pregnant. I have constipation problem before. I use to drink plenty of water and eat lot of fruits. but it doesn t work. so I started using Cremaffin tonic regularly. Shall I continue the same during this pregnancy period or shall I go for other medicines. Will it affect my baby? Kindly advise. Thanks.

It is common problem in pregnancy to have constipation due to various reasons,but as you are taking laxative cremaffin, as it contains paraffin and magnesium sulfate,which is habit forming and may affect absorption of many nutrients.
it is not safe to take during pregnancy,please consult your Gynaecologist for prescription may be stool; softener like DOS ( Dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate) may be given to you.
plenty of Water is a good choice. Fruit juice — especially prune juice.high-fiber foods, such as fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains.walking and other aerobic activities can help prevent pregnancy constipation.
