Constipation, Skin Tags Around Anus, Painful. Bleeding When Passing Stool. Surgery Recommended

I m 22 and suffering from constipation since a year. I also have skin tags around the anus which are sometimes painful. the anus is now becoming narrower which make mare difficult for the stool to pass. I bleed at times, not severely though. The doctor has prescribed a syrup which helps me fight constipation for that day. and recommends to get it operated if same continues. Help!

Thank you for the query.

You should ask your doctor what exactly he wants to operate? As constipations are usually caused by bad diet and low physical activity, it is hard to treat it with surgery.
Before any surgery it is good to know the reason. Such symptoms can be caused by IBS, bowel obstruction due to inflammatory intestines disease (Crohn`s disease), large intestine polyps or even cancer. To get to know the reason, some tests are necessary. It is advisable for you to have abdominal ultrasound, full blood work, stool tests and colonoscopy.
Bleeding from anus, pain and narrowing is caused probably by anal fissure due to constipations.
To improve stool consistency you should drink more water, avoid fatty foods, increase fiber rich products and physical activity.
