Cough, Running Nose And Fever. Given Crocin. Anything Else?

my daughter is quarter to 4. she started with cough and fever - 101.8 on 6th feb 3.00 am. after giving crocin , she got fever again on 7th feb 5.55 am (almost after 24 hrs)- 99.8. however, the cough was still there. afterwards we gave her on 7th feb at 10.30 pm the crocin dose for 100 fever. the nose also started running along with cough on 8th feb. Today that is 9th of feb after getting fever at 6.00 am, we gave her crocin and it has not recurred till 3.00 pm (~9 hrs). nose is also not running more but cough is not getting better at all. please guide.. as swine flu is prevailing a lot so doctor here in chandigarh, India has not prescribed any antibiotic .

Hi Mtech,

This condition you are decribing can be simple viral infection and simplly giving crocin for few days with proper rest and hydration, it will be cured.

But, since you have told that you are in chandigarh, which is near to Delhi where these day swine flu is going on and its presentation is also like viral flu only. The important thing to consider is that if the condition is improving and there is no further deteoretion of the condition, than chances of swine flu is less and if the condition is woresening than you must have to keep an eye and have diagnostic confirmation for swine flu.

In the mean time try to have proper rest and hydration and keep an eye on the condition, but as per your description, the condition is improving.
