HI I HAVE HADE A COUGH NOW FOR 6 WEEKS JUST FINISHED COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS ALSO COUGHING UP PHLEM.MY DOCTOR ALSO JAS ME ON AN INHALER I AM SHORT OF BREATH ALSO NOW MY HANDS ARE REALLY COL AND TINGLY. I HAVE SUFFERED FROM BROCHITIS PLURICCY AND HAD PHNEMONIA ABOUT 9 YEARS AGO I AM 42 FEMALE SMOKER 8 A DAY

Hello
Thanks for your query.
First you have to stop smoking because this is the best available treatment for chronic bronchitis followed by drugs like inhalers. I think you also need to undergo a spirometric evaluation of your chronic bronchitis and need to adjust the dose of inhalers accordingly. You should consult your pulmonologist soon. Again if you have increased sputum volum along with purulent sputum then you may have a short course (5-7 days) of antibiotics.
