Cough With Yellow Mucus, Minor Hot Flashes, Joint Pain After Having Unprotected Anal Sex. Possible HIV Positive?
Hi, I had un-protected anal sex with another guy. I'm almost 100% sure he's clean, but the anxiety makes me believe I'm sick. I workout and am still gaining muscle, I don't feel weak, but I've been coughing up yellow mucus, and I have been having minor hot flashes and joint aches. Am I hiv positive? Last encounter was 2 weeks ago.
Complications such as opportunistic infections of HIV can occur when the immune system is being affected but then at just a few weeks, it could hardly be the HIV that is causing you to have the cough. You should meet your doctor for detail evaluation and prescription of some antibiotics.
However, it will be necessary to still rule out the possibility of HIV by doing an HIV testing now to be sure of your status now and then re doing it three months later ( if using rapid diagnostic tests).
Hope this helps you. Dr Achuo
