Could Coversyl 4mg Cause Hair Loss?

I have been on Coversyl 4mg for the last 2 years and have been losing hair steadily. I had thin hair to begin with but I have noticed very fast hair loss over the last 2 years. Is this linked to the medicine. I ve heard Coversyl can cause Alopecia. If so where can I get this confirmed. If this med is stopped can this hair loss/Alopecia be reversed?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
Coversyl(perindopril) 4mg belongs to ACE-inhibitors used to treat high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels till now it has been not shown hair loss like its side effect.
The causes of the hair fall are: hereditary (family history); hormonal changes e.g. hypothyroidism; iron deficiency anemia; scalp infection (fungal infection); hairstyle treatment e.g. gel uses; medication like anticoagulants, chemotherapy drugs, anti-hypertensive drugs that belong to beta blocker class e.g. Atenolol, Metoprolol etc.
I recommend you to do additional test to determine the cause of your hair fall problem like thyroid functional test (TSH, T4) and a full blood count.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida Janko
