Could MS Be Hereditary Since Having Family History Of MS And Numbness In Legs And Trouble Walking?

hi i am 38 yr old and my sister is 42 and she has MS and her doughter is 21 and was tested positive for MS.I have had on going numness in my legs and have had trobele walking. I am on my 3rd bed in the last 5 yrs its a temberpidic and it has not helped my back just hurts all the time .so can MS be heritary.

For first degree family members (children or siblings) of people affected with MS (multiple sclerosis), the risk of developing the disorder is sevenfold higher than the general population but familial excess lifetime risk is only 2.5-5%. Other factors besides genetic that are suspected to lead to MS include environmental factors, viral infections, Vitamin D levels, chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency, hepatitis B vaccine etc.
Given your symptoms, I suggest you also get tested for MS.
