Hello doctor, morning... Am a 25yr old female & I have been diagnosed with grade 3 acne and am prescribed with tufacne 20mg.. I Have been asked to take a pill every alternate day.. I m down by 4 pills, and the conditions of my acne are seeming to get aggravated .. Is it normal for such a thing to happen ? Also , lately am experiencing a burning sensation on my checks and there is a lot of redness... Do I still continue with the pill ? Kindly suggest...
Hello, Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern. Tufacne is known to give rise to redness of skin. You may also feel initially that your lesions are getting aggravated but eventually they subside. Tufacne can also lead to hypersensitivity reaction but they are more generalized invoving entire body and not localized. Severe flare up of acne due to tufacne is very rare and in your case it has not seem to happen. Local burning & redness may also be due to other cream you must have been prescribed along with oral tufacne. I would advise you to wait and watch the situation and continue with the treatment. If condition further deteriorate and burning is intolerable, than you should stop oral and local treatment and consult your dermatologist. I hope this will be helpful. Take care.
