Could A Delayed Period And Birth Control Timing Changes Cause A Pregnancy?

Hi Dr. Andrew. I am not sure if this is due to stress or not. Last month I got my period after dropping my boyfriend off in GA. I am studying abroad, so I did not have sex after my last period. What is worrying me is that my period for this month is late, about a week. Like I said, I have not had sex since my last period. I also had to change my birth control times twice last month because I had to sync up the hours since I am six hours ahead of the US. is it possible to me pregnant? or is it more likely to be due to all of the stress and birth control?

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1 ) First of all do not panic .
2 ) As you have mentioned that you didn't have sexual activity after your last periods, then you stand no chance of getting pregnant .
3 ) Your current changes in the menstrual cycle pattern can be due to stress, physical and or mental due to changes in your work place.
4 ) If you want to clear the dilemma about pregnancy, blood beta HCG test is most reliable. Values less than 5 indicate non pregnant condition.
Please do not worry.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
