Could A Persistent Fishy Smell After Unprotected Sex Be A Sign Of An STD?
I ve only had unprotected sex with 2 people, when me and my boyfriend would sometimes if he didn t shower before my pH balance would be knocked off and my discharge would have a fishy smell, but when I got my period the smell would go away. I recently had unprotected sex again with another person and I had a fishy smell and even after I got my period the smell would still be there. If I have a std it will ruin my life, is this a sign I have one?
Yes, a persistent fishy smell after unprotected sex could be a sign of an infection, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or bacterial imbalances. Get clinically examined by a gynecologist. Get STD panel tests along with swab and urine tests done. The tests will help to detect BV, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc.
You will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals. Avoid douching, as it can worsen bacterial imbalances. Take a bath regularly and keep your private area clean. Use condoms to prevent infections in the future. Avoid unprotected sex. Stay away from multiple sex partners. Change your clothes regularly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
