Could A Raised Bump On The Penis Be Due To Herpes?
What are the odds that a sample taken from a raised red bump on the base of my penis is herpes? It was tested and came back negative, never seems to go away and is relatively hardened. It can change color from skin white to very red to almost purple. It definitely only seems to be one bump and not the typical sounding cluster of blisters. It does not hurt, but my entire genital region sometimes itches especially if sweaty. Thanks for any help, it has been a tumultuous time figuring this out.
According to the history given here, if I were to see a similar patient I would: 1) Take a detailed sexual history, contacts, whether the sex is/was safe or unsafe 2) Order a complete STD panel 3) According to the symptoms this looks like a case of syphilis rather than herpes 4)If the test was positive for the same, I would start on penicillin injections and repeat the test
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
