Could Alleve For Arthritis Cause SOB And Chest Heaviness?
I am a 66 year old woman and I have recently started takingn Alleve for arthritis in knees. After a week on the medicine, I am having terrible SOB when lying down. I feel a heaviness in my chest. Is this just the medicine and I should stop or is it an indication of something more serious.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM SOB and tightness in the chest are among the side effects of alleve. However, shortness of breath while lying down(orthopnea) and heaviness in chest should always be investigated to exclude other causes like heart and lung problems. You may discontinue the treatment for now and see your prescribing Doctor for examination. He may change your drug if need be.Alleve is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug(NSAID).Other NSAIDs may be tried for your arthritis and if similar reactions, other treatment options like myorelaxants and steroid shots occassionally may be exploited. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
