Could An Injury To The Cheekbone Causing Bruising And Swelling Lead To A Concussion As Well?

My daughter had a hard hit to her cheekbone this evening around 5:00 during a soccer game. Her cheekbone collided with another kids head. She had immediate bruising and swelling. It has been 5 hours now and she has had ice on it most of the time since injury and it is still very swelled and under her eye is bruising also. Should I be conserened of possible concussion? I am planning to take her to an urgent care in the morning to get it checked out just to be safe. But am now getting concerned about if there could be a concussion and if I should take her to emergency room tonight.

Hello, i can understand your concern.
if your child has any episodes of vomiting, loss of consciousness or double vision kindly take her to an er immediately. bruising and swelling can take a few days to go.
if the pain is severe, you can give her tylenol for pan relief.
A ct brain is always advisable after a head injury.
Hope i have answered your query. Have a nice day
