Could Bleeding And Hard Clotting Without Periods Be Due To A Miscarriage?
I ve had no periods for the past 10 months but yesterday I started bleeding and had probably 15 small (very firm) jelly like clots come out. Today, bleeding is beginning to subside. My periods have always lasted 7 days.. not just 2. The clots were almost oval, all close to the same shape and fairly hard. I would have had to use a knife to separate a clot. I have had 13 miscarriages and am worried that this might be another. I am 25 and in good health.
Thank you for the question and I am happy to help.
If you are pregnant or recently had a miscarriage, then you should check a pregnancy test to see if this is the case. Many women bleed in early pregnancy who are not having a miscarriage. Also, if you have had that many miscarriages, you need to see an OB/GYN for a full workup. There is almost certainly an explanation in someone with such a significant history. Finally, it is not healthy to not get a period. This can lead to an increased risk of uterine cancer. You need to be evaluated for precancerous changes of the uterus and probably need a uterine biopsy and ultrasound.
I hope that this helps and good luck! Dr. Tim
