Could Constant Itching In Vagina Be Due To STD?

Hi there,
For the past couple days the insides of my vagina has been really itchy. And it has been uncomfortable to wear a tampon (as i am in the middle of my period). Whatever i do it's constantly itchy inside and on the outer area of my vagina. I have had unprotected sex around a week ago and dont know whether this person has an std or not. could this be a std or is it just an infection? also my stomach has been hurting today, kind of like a stabbing, could this just be from my period? or something else?

:)

Hello
thanks for using health care magic

there are two possibilities;
-infectious causes
-allergic reactions

Most common infectious causes include
-T. vaginalis
-Candida albicans and
-Bacterial vaginosis

Trichomoniasis is the most common cause. Treatment is done with metronidazole ( 8 tablets of 250mg tablets as a single dose). You might consider adding chlorpheniramine to reduce the symptoms of itch.

Best regards
