Dear member, Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. depo shots taken regularly usually are effective in prevention of pregnancy. But no contraception method is 100% effective. So chance of pregnancy is always present though significantly less than without it.
The cramps may be due to infection. Please remember that only a barrier method like condom can reasonably reduce sexually transmitted infection. so I would generally patients who come to my clinic with similarl complaints to use both a barrier (condom) and any other method like deposhot or the pill to improve safety. Thanks. Dr Bhagyashree.
