Could Deteriorating Of Rib Bone Be A Sign Of Cancer?
I have a family member, whose doctor said they need to do a PET scan, because it looks like her fifth rib, on one side is deteriorating. She has had breast cancer and melanoma before. Could this be a sign of another form of cancer? I do know she has had back pain and lately dry deep coughs.

yes erosion in the rib could stem from cancer, so kindly follow the advise of your treating doctor. also sometimes infection can cause such picture which can be cleared by blood investigations,
