Could Distorted Self Image In A Child Be A Sign Of Anorexia?

Am I anorexic? I feel like i am so fat but my family/ friends tell me i am not and they tell me i just have an extremely distorted self image. I don't eat or eat very little and the only time I actually do eat full meals is when my parents tell me I have to. I have also tried to make myself throw up after i eat. i am very often sad and upset about my weight and i weigh myself whenever i get in front of a scale and i freak out when i gain a pound. i am 14 years old. 5 ft 4in. and weigh 136-137lbs.

Yes, its true that you are anorexic. You have all the symptoms of anorexia nervosa. One positive thing that I have noticed about you is that you are aware of it. When you're aware of it, then you will surely understand its repercussions on your health in the long run, right. At a tender age of 14, it is quite common for girls and even boys to be obsessed with apppearances but you are intelligent enough to discover that problem in you! You must focus on eating healthy and staying fit more than losing weight....at your age you need a good nutritious diet because your body is still developing. It is a critical growth period so please do not play with your health. Focus on your positive attributes, external appearance does not matter as you grow. Its your inner beauty that will make you attractive and well-liked by people in the long run. So be positive and develop your talents/skills in areas like academics/sports/creative arts like music, painting or dance etc. Wish you a bright future with good health! Hope I have answered your query. If you need any more help, then you get back to me anytime....
