Could Double Vision When Bending Over And Standing Up Be Related To High TSH Levels?
I am 59 years old and have always been in good health. This past year I have had issues where if I bend over and stand up I have double vision if both eyes are open. If one eye is closed it’s fine. I asked my Eye Doctor and Family Doctor and both say they don’t know why. I also asked my Family Doctor for a Thyroid test and She threw a fit for me asking. The result was 8.99(TSH). Could these be related?
Aging is associated with increased serum TSH concentrations, TSH of 8.9 is indicative that you have hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a condition when the thyroid gland is underactive and not producing enough thyroid hormones. However, TSH level can vary based on factors like overall health, medications, and specific medical conditions.
Get clinically examined by a GP, get treated as thyroid dysfunction can cause diplopia (double vision) also called thyroid eye disease or Graves' ophthalmopathy. Your treatment will depend on the disease diagnosed. You may be referred to an eye specialist if needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
