Could Elevated ESR Level Be Stress Related?

I am a 36 year old female with an ESR of 35. It was higher about two month ago with fevers and headaches. I was put on steroids and antibiotics. I went back about 1 month and it was 50 and now to date it is 35. My doctor is telling me that it is stress related. Is that even possible?

Welcome to H.C.M. I am Dr Krishna Dubey.
Dear friend Since ESR is a non-specific marker of inflammation and is affected by other factors, the results must be used along with other clinical findings.
Moderately elevated ESR occurs with inflammation but also with anemia, infection, pregnancy, and with aging.
Your doctor is correct that High ESR can be related to stress also.
I advise you to live a stress free life with help of yoga and meditation.
Repeat your E.S.R with complete blood count to rule out anemia( a cause of increased E.S.R.)
Thanx for query..
I find this answer helpful
