Could Fluid In Head Cause Developmental Issue And Pain?
my 6 month old son's doctor wants to get an ultra sound on my son because she said he has a big head which may be caused by fluid on his brain. however, he is developing as every 6 month old baby should. if he had fluid on his brain wouldn't there be developmental issues and wouldn't he be in pain?
In my opinion you should get an ultrasound done if it his doctor's concern that he has a big head. It is not necessary that he may have any symptoms right now as the anterior fontanelle is open in children of this age group. so the pressure symptoms may be absent. The developmental issues may be absent or very minor and may not be noticed. Also the big size of head may be due to other reasons than fluid in the brain. It is always better to screen.
