Could Fragments Of Gastric Mucosa In The Context Of IBS And Diverticulitis Indicate Cancer?
Hi I have been having a lot of stomach issues. I know I have IBS with c. But my stomach aches like a toothache at times and then they are times when it makes me very nauches. I ve been on some meds but they don t seem to be working. This occurs everyday. I also have diverticaltis. They found fragments of gastric Mucosa. Just wondering if this could cause cancer and what else should the doctor i m seeing do for it
Your reports show fragments of gastric mucosa, you also have IBS and diverticulitis. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with fragments of gastric mucosa and diverticulitis does not directly indicate cancer. However, both IBS and diverticulitis can sometimes present with symptoms similar to those of gastrointestinal cancers.
Diverticulitis is associated with an increased risk of cancers. However, not all the cases of diverticulitis lead to cancer. Increased risk may be due to chronic inflammation or other underlying factors. Get clinically examined and assessed by a gastroenterologist, the treating doctor will treat you with medicines, diet control and physical therapy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
