Metoprolol tartrate in a dose of 75 mg two times a day is the medicine you are taking for hypertension . I don't know why your physician has prescribed this drug as first line that to in high dose it can be given for hypertension but commonly it is given for heart rate control. dear you have not your mentioned your age and any other problem apart from intermittent headache for last 3 days.in my opinion you need to check your blood pressure again and it should be determined whether you really have hypertension or not..It s not just one reading to determine that.so I would like to suggest you that you be in contact with your physician for regular blood pressure monitoring . Apart from that for your head ache it may be because of high blood pressure or by something else..It may be simple tension headache or may be because of some eye causes . Detail history and examination is required to reach correct diagnosis . So you need a good physician for that..hope this will help.
