Could Iron Deposition Be The Cause For Blockage And Loss Of Hearing?

dear dr. sudhir kumar sir, Dear Sir/Mam, I m ready to transfer your fee right in you’re a/c as site par its showing $35. I am suffering from hearing problem since last 17 years(befor this I was 100% o.k.). It has developed gradually and at present nearly around 80-85% loss. Left ear is almost blocked. There has never been no pain,no discharge ,no wound in my ears.I had cold severly earlier but cold is controlled completely since last 3-4 years.I feel my ear blocked all time but there is no noise.i find it really hard to understand even if i am able to hear the voice.I feel my bones tight around and within ears.At adverse time my problem get worsened. besides this I suffered from chickenpox when I was 15. but after that I felt no problem. It started when I was 16+.initially it was very little so we did not care about this. .Initially it was in left ear and was very little. but by the time it increased gradually in both ears.At presently my left ear is almost block and right ear is around 80-85% damaged.I visited many ENT and they suggested Cochlear IMPLANT.I took ayurvedic medicines and allopathic medicines. And now voice is getting mimick while earlier it was so strong and clear. In 2007 MRI was suggestive of an arachnoid cyst in the posterior fossa with ?calcification/?hemosiderin deposit in the cerebellar foliae?.After 1 year treatment doctor concluded that it was there since very early or birth time and it pose no threat at all.(Report of tests along with doctor prescription is attached titled 2007). I had a fall at very early age but as per my family I was 100% ok after that fall and there was no injury or other problem.Besides that fall I have no instance of injury. I underwent hernia operation at very early age and no other surgery ever performed on me. Last week i went SGRH for cochlear Implant consultation then they advised 3d MRI of temporal and after that they discovered that cochlea and auditory are noral and there is iron deposition and may be due to this i am suffering from hearing problem and referred to neuro and neuro suggested some more tests (REPORTS ARE ATTACHED titled 2014). Sir Kindly take a glance at the attached reports and give me your opinion regarding this case. And kindly tell me if some other tests needed to fix the problem exactly. detail has also been sent at your yahoo id. With best regards Anupam Jain BHEL,JHANSI 0000

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello Anupam,
since you have addressed this question to another doctor I'm not sure if I should advise this, but there is nothing called increased iron deposition in the ear.
Your case is quite complex but all I can understand is that you must be given a trial of hearing aids, even when no cause is found; the hearing aid would improve your hearing and ear block to some extent but the cold or allergy should also be controlled properly.
