Your question involves a complex answer. The twitching could be a form of restless leg. The cramping is more than likely resulting from low magnesium, low potassium, low calcium. The vitamin D you are taking is a safe level. I take 1,000 IU myself of vitamin D. But, I take calcium, magnesium as well to make certain everything is balanced. Try including high magnesium foods or a 200 mg. magnesium tab per day and assure that you are consuming between 1,000 - 1500 mg. of calcium per day from diet and/or supplement. I hope your sleep improves soon. Kathy Shattler, MS,RDN.
