I am trying to get pregnant. I have been trying a couple of months now. I have a period once every two weeks and about a week and half ago I had unprotected sex and then had a period but it was very light and only lasted two days. What does that mean and being that my periods come every two weeks when should I take a pregancy test?
Hi there, My opinion with regard to your query is that: 1) Having periods every two weeks is abnormal. 2) I think what you must be having is alternate heavy and light bleeding. The heavy periods would be your normal periods and the light bleeding would be ovulation bleeding called mittelschmers sign. 3) However, light bleeding does not indicate pregnancy per se. 4) You need to wait for your periods to be missed and get a urine pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant. 5) In case that is negative, you can get a blood test called serum beta HCG which gives result earlier and is more reliable.
I hope this was helpful. Regards, Dr. Shikha Shah
