Could Lower Abdominal Pressure And Pain Post Hernia Mesh Repair Indicate Mesh-related Issues?
Hi, I have been experiencing a strange sensation in my lower left stomach area that feels like pressure and aching that starts near the end of my rib cage, mostly in my lower abdomen and kind of goes down to my groin area and it started and gradually increased after having hernia repair with mesh. I think I ruled out that it may be gastrointestinal. Is it possible to be an allergy to the mesh, is the mesh irritating a nerve or muscle? I have been looking into mesh removal, any thoughts?
Mesh related problems usually u will have pain at the surgery site. It may be due to nerve entrapment with in the mesh. As you are experiencing, pain will not be originating below the ribs. Mesh itself is a foreign body to us which enhances growth of fibrous tissue around it thus strengthening the posterior wall and prevents recurrence of hernia.
Mesh removal is not advisable unless you have an infection of mesh or meshoma formation. If pain is radiating from back towards groin then you must consider a renal colic due to stones in kidney. Get an ultrasound done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
