Could My Recent Shortness Of Breath, Body Pain, And Peri-bronchial Cuffing Be Related To The Tracheitis I Had A Month Ago?

Hello, so a month ago i had a shortness of breath and à cough with taste of blood. My gp told me it wa à tracheitis and gave me some medicine nd everything was good But a week go my shortness of breath came back with some random pain in my body ( back, hands,legs...) I did an xray that showed a peribronchial cuffing. Could it be because of the tracheitis ? The truth is i m scared it could be lung cancer and i m only 21 years old and never smoked.

Hello,

Peri-bronchial cuffing is indicative of inflammation around the small airways (bronchi), often from infection or irritation. Since you are again having shortness of breath, it could be due to the lingering effect of the infection/inflammation from tracheitis, especially if the infection extended to the smaller airways.

Body pain: Infections or inflammation in the respiratory system can sometimes cause muscle or joint pain due to prolonged coughing or fever may cause body pain due to infection in the respiratory system. Get clinically examined by a GP, as tracheitis can trigger asthma-like symptoms or exacerbate chronic bronchitis. Get blood work, pulmonary function tests, and CT etc., done to diagnose the pathology that is causing you symptoms and discomfort.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
