Could Not Hear After Swimming, Cleaned, Shooting Pain, Bleeding. Reason?

I was swimming yesterday, and when I was done I couldn t hear very well out of my left ear. I cleaned it very carefully with a q-tip and must have accidentally hit something because I had a shooting pain in my ear. I stopped cleaning it immediately. Today, I was blowing my nose, felt something in my ear and it started bleeding . What happened to my ear?

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding sudden loss of hearing from your left ear just after swimming, and as you started cleaning your ear accidentally you had injured your ear drum because you felt severe pain followed by bleeding from ear.

You are saying that as you are blowing your nose there is feeling of something passing in the ear.Your this observation put us to think about perforation of ear drum. Therefore now you should consult an ENT doctor for thorough examination and proper treatment otherwise this perforation will turn into non healing stage and thus permanent hole will be left behind.

If such type of perforation are treated well than there is excellent healing. therefore you should -

1- Don't put any ear drop or oil in ear otherwise healing will be difficult.

2- Take anti inflammatory and analgesic.

3- Took anti histamine.

4- Antibiotic (Broad spectrum).

This will help you but consultation with ENT doctor will be a wise step here.
