Could Obesity Cause One To Faint Frequently When Laughing?

My son is terribly over weight...probably 350 pounds and 36 years old.
When he laughs hard he passes out.....in the last two months he has passed out and hurt himself badly.
Is his weight the only reason he is passing out or could there be another reason?
Thank you, Phil

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This is likely situational syncope. Syncope refers to fainting.

Situational syncope is fainting that occurs as a result of particular situations. The most common situations to provoke these episodes are coughing, laughing, defection, urination.

It is due to a fall in blood pressure and decrease blood supply to the brain.

He may want to consider visiting his doctor for an assessment to determine if this is the reason for his symptoms.

I hope this helps
