General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. If you had a trauma before then you can suspect that your pain can be from broken rib, but in absence of such history it is most likely costochondritis. You can confirm it by an X ray examination. For costochondritis in my patients I treat with anti inflammatory gels of diclofenac or nimusulide for local application. I also give the tablets of same for oral intake if pain is more. If no improvement then I recommend local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic. Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further queries.
