Could Persistent Diarrhea In A Child Be Indicative Of Lingering Amebiasis?

Hi, my 4 year old son got amebiasis in July and was given Metrolag for 10days. After that he was pooping twice a day and still did not get back to normal. After 2 months he started having diarrhea again up to 20 bowel movements a day. Then diarrhea started getting less with time until an average of 6 times daily. He had multiple blood and stool and ultrasound tests showing inflammation in his body but doctors did not know why. Inflammation is getting less. Could it be that he still have amebiasis in his system? Can we give him at this point another course of antibiotics? He lost lot of weight but he started gaining some weight again. With amebiasis presence, normally can weight and diarrhea frequency fluctuate or it normally increases?
