Could Persistent Major Depression Disorder In A Teenager Be Due To Any Thyroid Issue If Most Family Members Have Hypothyroidism?
If a teenager has a parent with hypothyroidism, and that parent all their siblings and both parents also have hypothyroidism. Teenager has TSH in normal range but is battling Persistent Major Depression Disorder is it possible the thyroid is an issue?
This can be possibility, I would suggest a complete thyroid profile in addition to TSH, just to make sure the thyroid function is alright, is there any swelling in the neck from the thyroid gland? If thyroid functions (another blood test) are alright then we should think about whether there is another reason for persistent major depression and try sorting it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
