Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im 19, about 5 8 weighing 260Lbs. Ive been smoking for maybe two years, about a pack a day. I noticed this morning im having dull chest pains. They are a little uncomfortable but not keeping me from my day to day responsibilities. Could I be smoking too much?
Hello, and thank you for your question! Regarding your concern I would advice to you to change immediately your life style; including smoking cessation, frequent physical activity, a healthy diet (Mediterranean one), and lowering your body weight (as you look over-weighted or more exactly obese). Turning to your question, I would say that you have risk factors for coronary heart disease development, and you should consult your GP to perform a routine check up (physical exam, resting ECG and blood tests) to rule out any actual problem and also any other coronary risk factors. In that way it would be possible to quantify your future risk profile level. Regarding your chest pain it should be evaluated seriously as I mentioned above (contact your GP); nowadays there is not a clear age cut-off for rulig out a cardiac origin of chest pain; So I STRONGLY ADVICE YOU TO STOP SMOKING IMMEDIATELY; and follow a healthy life style. Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings from Dr. Iliri
