Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Pthe Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Found In Semen And Urine Affect My Partner S Reproductive System, Given Her History Of Ectopic Pregnancy?
I had a Semen analysis showing Pseudomonas aeruginosa. After consulting a local urologist he adviced urine culture. It showed same bacteria but as insignificant growth. My partner had an ectopic pregnancy. So will my bacterial growth lead to any infection in my partner s reproductive system?
Since Pseudomonas aeruginosa is found both in semen and urine it is indicative of infection in the male reproductive system. It can cause prostatitis or epididymitis if not treated in time. Get clinically examined by a urologist, get urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done to rule out UTI. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is commonly treated with Ceftazidime as first choice medicine. Take medicines only after consultation and clinical examination by a local urologist.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa can cause infections if there is direct exposure. Avoid unprotected sex with your partner. However, it is not a sexually transmitted infection. Maintain hygiene and get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
